20 Years and Growing!

20 years ago - Back in 1983, Urban Office Products started operations in a 3-bedroom cooperative apartment on Manhattan's upper Westside and ended its first year with $500,000 worth of gross sales. Ron Gibel's Certified Public Accountant was startled and could not believe that such high volumes could be sold out of an apartment with no inventory.

Ron's experience and knowledge emanated from 20 years of working as a corporate officer at one of the largest office supply companies at that time. During that first year, Ron secured deals with top corporations such as Phillip Morris, Bristol Myers Squibb Inc., Bell Laboratories, and Con Edison. Ron's relationship with Phillip Morris earned him a one-week executive training program at Dartmouth College. In addition, Ron and his newly formed Urban Office Products were presented an award for excellence in the office supply industry by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

20 years later - Urban is a multimillion-dollar corporation, with 48 national distribution centers that enable us to serve customers nationwide!

Considered by New Yorkers as the new S.O.H.O., D.U.M.B.O. is nestled between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, with cobblestone streets, warehouse buildings in the throes of conversion to corporation headquarters, artist studios, and condos. With phenomenal views of the Manhattan skyline, this area has proven to be a key location for Urban Office Products. We've grown steadily, offering convenience and close proximity to many of our existing and newly acquired corporate accounts located just minutes away in downtown Manhattan, NYC.
